No core required. Application: Beetles and Busses. Will work with 1968-1971 Type 2 engine support bar. Not tapped for Thermostat, but boss is present (M8 x 1.25 tap). Product Quality Information: These engines are not the same as Beetlemex/GEX new engines, these are built for the replacement market and in our opinion are built better then the Beetlemex/GEX engines.
